Wedding Gowns in Kerala—Select Suitable Wedding Gowns

A wedding dress is the dress worn by a bride during the wedding ceremony. Its color, style and ceremonial importance of the gown depends on the region, religion and culture of the wedding.

Selection of Wedding Dresses:

--Assess your body's characteristics.

There are 5 basic body shapes.Pear shaped bodies-hips are wider than the shoulders. Rectangular shaped body-shoulder and hip widths are relatively the same. Triangular body shape- shoulders are broader than the hips. Hourglass figures-same shoulder and hip widths with difference in waist size. Apple shaped- fuller in the middle, and have slender limbs.

--
Choose a wedding dress style which is suitable to your body's characteristics.
  • Pear shaped--Deep necklines and strapless is good for pear shapes.Skirts that flare out from a cinched waist, diagonally draped bodices.
  • Rectangular shaped--full skirts, Fitted corsets, wide necklines are sensible choices.
  • Triangular shaped--Simple, bias-cut wedding gown styles are very flattering on triangle shaped bodies.
  • Tall-- Make sure the sleeves and skirt are long enough to suit your body's proportions.
  • Busty--A wedding dress style with a curved neckline will frame your face and collarbone, and make your bust area a supporting feature.
  • Plus-sized. Empire waist and A-line wedding gown styles are flattering on plus-sized figures. Choose a fabric with body that can provide structure to the shape of the gown.
  • Thin--Full skirts, cinched waists and ruched bodices are great for slender figures.
  • Narrow hips--Use bustles and full skirts, which can balance out your figure if you are very narrow from the waist down.
--Avoid wedding gown styles that aren't suitable to your figure.

  • Rectangular shaped--Avoid halter tops and high necklines because your shoulders appear more narrow
  • Pear shaped--Avoid high necklines because it can make pear-shaped hips appear larger. Also avoid full skirts and pleating.
  • Tall--Excessive embellishments should be avoided.
  • Triangular shaped--Stay away from wide and/or low-cut necklines.
  • Hourglass--Straight cut dresses may be too loose around your waist, and the empire cuts hide the best features of the hourglass figure. Avoid gathers or pleats in the skirt which will make the hips look disproportionate.
  • Apple shaped--Avoid trumpet dress silhouettes which will contribute a visual feeling of disproportion.
  • Petite--Drop-waist and calf-length designs will shorten your legs visually.
  • Plus--sized. Pleating and oversized and/or unfitted gowns should be avoided.
  • Busty--Strapless gowns with straight horizontal necklines, fabrics with sheen and ruching should be avoided.
